A modern reproduction of an old chest with traditional Mykolaiv decorative painting of the Dnipropetrovsk region is a vivid example of Ukrainian folk ornamentation, related to the famous Petrykivka painting. A rich palette with a dominant fiery orange on a deep green background, a symmetrical composition of flower rosettes, buds and berries, framed by a clear geometric frame - characteristic features of an authentic folk ornament that for centuries decorated chests in which dowries and the most valuable family belongings were kept.
Wood/plywood, hand-painted with British paints, acrylic, matte varnish. Dimensions: height 62 cm, width 51 cm, length 85 cm.
Each chest of this format is a handmade product, made by a master by hand, without machine replication, so the pattern and color nuances have the author's uniqueness. The chest is functional as a storage item and at the same time is a self-sufficient decorative accent - a chest of drawers, a bedside table or a bench for the hallway.
The chest will become a bright, authentic decoration of the interior in the Ukrainian ethnic style, an original wedding gift (traditionally, the chest is a symbol of the bride's dowry) or a status gift for foreign guests who appreciate true Ukrainian folk art.
You can purchase this and other authentic handmade chests in the Mrii Marii salon-gallery at Andriyivskyi Uzviz, 30, Kyiv, or with delivery across Ukraine and abroad.
