Diptych "Volyky" / Anna Didenko, an author's work on the theme of the petroglyphs of Kamyano Mohyla


The diptych "Volyky" is an author's work by Anna Didenko, a modern Ukrainian symbolist artist, a member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine, dedicated to the petroglyphs of Kamyano Mohyla - one of the oldest sacred sanctuaries in the world, located in Zaporizhia, which is currently under Russian occupation and is undergoing destruction. In a muted olive-ocher range, on a textured, as if "weathered" surface of the canvas, the artist reproduces archaic images of deer and bulls - ancient rock paintings that have preserved the memory of the first inhabitants of these lands for millennia. Mixed media with the effect of patina and natural influxes of paint gives the work documentary authenticity, as if the viewer is touching the very stone of the sanctuary.
